Mumbai, Mar 10 (ANI): A special sessions court in Mumbai today adjourned its hearing by one more day into Pune-based stud farm owner Hasan Ali Khan case, who is alleged to have stashed away over eight billion dollars in Swiss banks, and handed over his custody to the Enforcement Directorate (ED).
The Enforcement Directorate, while seeking Hasan Ali's custody, told the court to give them time to probe to bring this case to logical conclusion. The probe agency also told the court that they need to submit a status report on the case to the Supreme Court.
The Enforcement Directorate further said Hasan Ali Khan had been questioned 18 times, but was not cooperating.
The defence counsel, however, argued that probe agency need to submit a report in the Supreme Court is not enough grounds to grant them the custody of Hasan Ali Khan.
The court had earlier on Wednesday slammed the Enforcement Directorate for not making a proper case for the custody of Hasan Ali Khan on money laundering charges, and adjourned till today the hearing on the application of the probe agency.
The Enforcement Directorate had in their application sought the remand of Hasan Ali.
"You have not been able to make any case and you want me to hear you. If you want to do some homework, you can take time," said Principal Sessions Court Judge M L Tahaliyani before adjourning the proceedings.
Ali was arrested on Monday night by the Enforcement Directorate in Mumbai under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act.
The Income Tax Tribunal had on March 4 issued a showcause notice to Hasan Ali. (ANI)
