New Delhi, Mar 9(ANI): Officials of the border security forces of India and Bangladesh on Wednesday held a meeting in New Delhi toresolve matters concerning border security.
Director General (DG) of the Border Security Force (BSF), RamanSrivastava led the 21-member Indian delegation while Director General of the Border Guards of Bangladesh (BGB), Major General Mohammad Rafiqul Islam, led the 20-member contingent of his country.
They have discussed issues such as prevention of militancy and construction projects within 150 yards of the international border.
The BSF has also taken the initiative to use non-lethal weaponry onthe Bangladesh border.
India's northeast shares an extensive border with Bangladesh of which 675 kilometres has been fenced to check illegal migrants, keep an eye on Indian insurgents fleeing to Bangladesh and also to keep a vigil over illegal trade and trans-border crime. (ANI)
