New Delhi, Mar 4 (ANI): The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) filed a chargesheet against Justice Nirmal Yadav on Friday in connection with the 'cash at judge door' scandal.
The CBI action comes the same day, when she is to demit office as the Uttarakhand High Court Judge.
The chargesheet against Justice Yadav was filed in the court of Special CBI Judge Ritu Tagore under various sections, including 120-B of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) relating to conspiracy and sections 11 and 12 of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
President Pratibha Devisingh Patil had last month given her clearance for prosecution of Justice Yadav.
The special CBI posted the hearing in the matter for April after the investigating agency filed the 25-page charge sheet against Justice Yadav.
The CBI has also filed chargesheet against four others including advocate Sanjiv Bansal, Delhi businessman Ravinder Singh, Nirmal Singh and Rajiv.
The cash at judge door scandal broke on August 13, 2008, when Rs 15 lakh was delivered at the residence of Justice Nirmaljit Singh Kaur.
It was later alleged that the money, brought by a clerk of a senior Haryana law officer, was actually meant for another judge of the High Court, Justice Nirmal Yadav, and delivered to the wrong house. (ANI)
