Waugh predicts England will exit early from World Cup

Melbourne , Thu, 17 Feb 2011 ANI

Melbourne, Feb 17 (ANI): After successfully defending the Ashes on Australian soil, England faces a difficult task to qualify for the quarter-finals of the 2011 World Cup, according to former opener Mark Waugh.

Waugh said that "there always tends to be one team" who unexpectedly crashes out in the group stages and he has nominated England as the most likely candidate.

England is pitted in Group B alongside India, South Africa, Bangladesh, West Indies, Ireland and Netherlands.

Waugh believes Bangladesh will progress to the quarterfinals, leaving England as the team most vulnerable to an early exit, FOX Sports reports.

"I think Eoin Morgan is a huge loss for them; he's their best one-day player. And their form has been ordinary. I know that Anderson didn't play and Broad didn't play much in Australia, but I just think they're the team most likely, in my opinion, to maybe get knocked out," he said.

"Even though they've had a great Ashes summer, I think their one-day cricket's pretty ordinary," Waugh said. (ANI)
