Vice President Ansari enumerated for second phase of Census 2011

New Delhi, Feb 9 (ANI): Vice President Mohammad Hamid Ansari was enumerated for the second phase of Census 2011 here on Wednesday.

 

The Census Commissioner of India, Dr. C. Chandramouli, along with the team of Census Operation, Delhi, was present on the occasion.

 

The Census enumerator collected the information based on a questionnaire about the household of Vice President Ansari.

 

Speaking on the occasion, the Vice President Ansari said that this census will determine the socio-economic health of the country in the next decade.

 

He also congratulated the Census Commissioner and his team for conducting the second largest census in the world.

 

The Census-2011 is the 15th National Census of the country and is being conducted simultaneously all over the country from February 9 to 28.

 

The 15th census will enumerate the country's 1.2 billion population. All 640 districts , 5767 tehsils , 7,742 towns and more than six lakh villages in the country will be covered.

 

The Indian Census has been the most credible source of information on demography, economic activity, literacy and education, fertility and mortality, Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, and many other socio-cultural data since 1872. (ANI)
