Karachi, Feb 4(ANI): The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has applied to the Indian High Commission for the visas of the Pakistan squad members playing in the ICC World Cup 2011.
It has applied for the visas in advance, as it does not want any hassles later in the tournament, The Sports Encounter quoted sources, as saying.
Pakistan are not scheduled to play any of their group-stage matches in India, but they will have to travel there if they qualify for the quarterfinals and the semifinals..
Sources said the steps were taken in the wake of a recent visa issue with three Canadian players of Pakistan-origin. The board is not ready to take any chances in this regard, so top PCB officials have already completed the documentation process, sources added.
They further stated that the Indian embassy officials have also been told that the PCB requires the visas before their departure to Bangladesh on February 10.
The visas of the Pakistani players will be sent to the Indian High Commission in Islamabad as soon as they return from New Zealand on February 7, 2011. (ANI)
