'We won't be considered as underdogs': Dhoni

Mumbai , Tue, 01 Feb 2011 ANI

Mumbai, Feb 1 (ANI): Indian cricket skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni has said eam India won't be considered underdogs in the 2011 World Cup, as it has reacted to pressure more responsibly over the last few years.

"We won't be considered as underdogs this time. The team has learnt to perform under pressure and we have done so in the past three years. We have changed the meaning of pressure to responsibility," Dhoni told reporters here.

"Cricket is the biggest sport in India and we are looking at the tournament in a positive way .We are just going to stick to our basics and hope that we do well. We definitely have the potential," he added.

When questioned about possible reactions from Indian fans if the team fails to perform at the World Cup, Dhoni said: "We are not thinking about what may happen, because those things are beyond our control. There is a lot of cricket ahead of us and we are going to take each game in the right frame of mind. We hope that we can do well at the tournament."

The 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup, which kicks off on February 19, will be the tenth Cricket World Cup, and will be hosted by three South Asian Test cricket playing nations: India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. (ANI)
