Gurjinder Singh, border police post In-Charge, Baspur said that higher authorities have ordered to picket total 24 check posts and thorough security checks.

"We have stationed all the check posts ahead of the Republic Day. We have instructions from the higher authorities to station 24 check posts in the area," he added.

Earlier this week BSF thwarted an attempt by an infiltrator and gunned a militant in Akhnoor sector.

According to security officials, in the backdrop of this incident, the security was strengthened further and 24-hour vigil was being maintained. The police have started random checking of vehicles at various check posts. (ANI)
