Hussey not using crutches post surgery to brighten WC playing chances

Melbourne, Sun, 23 Jan 2011 ANI

Melbourne, Jan 23(ANI): Australian batsman Michael Hussey has said that he would not use crutches as he recovers from hamstring surgery, in a bid to be back in full training in just four weeks.

"The surgeon didn't want me to use crutches, basically because he wanted me to get on it and put weight through it as quickly as possible," Fox Sports quoted Hussey, as saying.

"I've found that pretty tough in the last few days, but basically I've got to put up with a bit of pain to make sure that I can get back in that four-week period," he added.

The 35-year-old further said that he might be fit for Australia's opening game in the World Cup against Zimbabwe on February 21.

"I'll be doing everything I possibly can to recover as quickly as possible and, ideally, I'd love to be available for the first game," Hussey said.

"That might be cutting it a little bit too fine, but you never know. I've healed pretty quickly before, so I'm hoping I heal quickly again," he added. (ANI)
