Moto G4 plus, Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 or Lenovo ZUK Z1: Here's How to Choose the Right

In the past, affordable smartphones apparently made you think of Motorola. The company was leading the league by belting out various mid-range devices. However, it had to step back given the prominence of other companies like Xiaomi, Meizu, Micromax and Coolpad.

But now it seems that Motorola is back in the game with its Moto G4 plus. The Lenovo-owned Motorola recently launched the fourth generation of its Moto G series on May 17. The device is all set to compete with the mighty ones in the market and as per the stats; its strong competitors would be Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 and Lenovo ZUK Z1.

Display

It's interesting to see that all the three smartphones share the same 5.5 inch display and 1920x1080 pixels screen resolutions. The only thing that differentiates is that Redmi Note 3 has 178-degree viewing angle backed by Sunlight display tech and night mode. The Lenovo ZUK Z1 has anti-fingerprint coating, GFF whole-bonding process and display polariser coating while Moto G4 Plus has Corning Gorilla Glass 3 shield.

Camera

Cameras have indeed turned to be a fundamental part of smartphones these days and to an extent they even prove to be one of the deciding factors. In this case, Moto G4 plus, Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 and Lenovo ZUK Z1 have similar camera configurations. Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 has a 16-MP main camera with PDAF, dual ISP, dual-tone LED flash and HDR with 5MP front-camera backed by 36 smart beauty profiles that offer good selfies.

The Motorola Moto G4 Plus is powered by a 16MP primary camera with OmniVision Pure Cel Plus sensor, professional mode, PDAF, dual LED flash and 5MP front-snapper with wide-angle lens.

Coming to Lenovo ZUK Z1, it has 13-MP Sony EXMOR RS sensor with 1.2µm, OIS, 5-physical lens, dual LED flash and f/2.2 aperture. For selfies it has 8MP camera with 1.4µm pixel, OV8865 sensor backed by OMniBSI-1 technology.

ZUK Z1 is the ultimate selfie camera, however, Redmi Note 3 and Moto G4 Plus offer good-quality primary cameras.

Processor & Storage

Lenovo ZUK Z1 has 2.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor along with 3GB RAM and 64GB storage. On the other hand, Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 comes with Qualcomm Snapdragon 650 CPU backed by 3GB RAM and 32GB storage, while Moto G4 Plus has Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 octa-core processor paired with 3GB RAM and 32GB expandable storage.

Battery & Software

Lenovo ZUK Z1 own the biggest battery of 4,100mAh that offers up to 38 hours of 4G talk time. Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 has 4,050mAh that can last up to 14 hours on GPS navigation. Moto G4 Plus has a smaller battery in regards to the other two with 3,000mAh battery backed by TurboCharging technology that lets it offer six hours of talktime with just 15 minutes of charging.

Though all run Android, it's just Moto G4 Plus which has the up-to-the-minute Marshmallow update. Lenovo ZUK Z1 is backed by Cyanogen OS 12.1 and Redmi Note 3 runs MIUI 7.

Price

Lenovo ZUK Z1 is available at Rs. 13,499 whereas Redmi Note 3 (3GB+32GB) costs Rs. 11,999. The Moto G4 Plus has two variants: the 2GB RAM+16GB storage is priced Rs. 13,499 while 3GB RAM+32GB storage is available at Rs. 14,999, respectively.

Verdict

If we compare the price, features and specifications then Lenovo ZUK Z1 surely comes up as the winner of the three and is absolutely worth the price.
