South Delhi Municipal Corporation today organized a function at Tyag Raj Stadium in Lodi Colony to celebrate International Yoga Day. Members of Parliament Mrs. Meenakshi Lekhi, Sh. Ramesh Bidhuri, Mayor of South Delhi Municipal Corporation Sh. Subhash Arya, Leader of House Sh. Ashish Sood, Addl. Commissioner Sh. G.S. Meena and senior officers were present. Function is presided over by Local Councillor Smt. Kusum Lata.
4000 students enjoyed the Yoga performance given by 400 students of SDMC schools. Students demonstrated 21 different Yoga Asans in front of dignitaries. They perform Kapal Bhati, Pranayam, Shabhavi positions. Later Tar Asan, Vriksh Asan, Padhast Asan, Earth Chakra Asan and Trikon Asan were performed. All the dignitaries were impressed by the performance given by small school children.
Speaking on the occasion Member of Parliament Smt. Meenakshi Lekhi said programme organized by SDMC is very inspirational and knowledgeable in making child healthy. YogAsans helps in keeping our body healthy physically as well as mentally. She appreciated the initiative taken by Union Govt on Yoga. Hon’ble Member of Parliament Sh. Ramesh Bidhuri said in today’s environment to get relief from stress Yoga is an important stress reliever. It will help in keeping our society healthy. Hon’ble Member of Parliament appreciated the efforts of SDMC.
Speaking on the occasion Mayor of SDMC Sh. Subhash Arya said the performance of our children is really motivating and help in building strong India. Programme ended with Sankalp & Shanti Paath.
