BJP returns to divisive politics: Aam Aadmi Party

New Delhi, Thu, 08 May 2014 NI Wire

The Aam Aadmi Party strongly condemns the desperation of Mr Narendra Modi and the BJP, who have returned to their old divisive agenda of seeking votes in the name of religion and caste, in the last lap of Lok Sabha elections.

Mr Modi and the BJP have realised that there are no takers for their manufactured wave and the much hyped faulty Gujarat developmental model also has been punctured. Therefore, the return to its communal and casteist agenda is a last ditch attempt to lift its electoral fortunes.

Mr Modi's theatrics and stunts are weakening the very foundation of the democracy, and after his false developmental model of Gujarathas been thoroughly exposed by the AAP, he is now trying to practice the worst kind of politics by trying to seek votes in the name of caste and religion.

It is shameful that Mr Modi, who is dreaming of occupying the highest office of the country, is now trying to fool the people by portraying himself as a backward. If Mr Modi is so serious about ensuring justice for the weaker sections of the society, then first of all he should start living like an aam aadmi (common man).

Having doled out favours to big corporate houses like Adani and Ambanis, in whose planes he is flying across the country without divulging the thousands of crores of rupees being spent on his campaign, Mr Modi is merely trying to hoodwink the people by shedding crocodile tears about the poor and backwards.

Mr Modi has nothing to show so far during his tenure as a chief minister about the upliftment of weaker sections of the society. The AAP also wants to know from Mr Modi and the BJP that despite having harped on development, why suddenly photographs of religious gods are appearing on stages from where Mr Modi is addressing his rallies ?

Is it not a clear attempt to polarise votes in the name of religion after all other desperate efforts have failed ? The AAP appeals to the people to reject such a divisive agenda and remain united in this crucial hour.
