NIFT Mumbai is all set to provide the industry a fresh group of young and talented professionals, who have undergone four years of rigorous and disciplined training. To celebrate the successful completion of UG and PG courses of Design, Technology and Management, NIFT has organized a day long programme at National Center for Performing Arts (NCPA).
The celebration commences with the Convocation of the graduating batch of 2014, which includes two PG and five UG programmes. Honourable K. Sankaranarayanan, Governor of Maharashtra, will be the Chief Guest for Convocation ceremony, Guests of Honour will be Sri Pramod Hindurao, Chairman, CIDCO, Smt. Shabana Azmi, eminent film personality and social activist, Sri Viswas Deval, Chairman, MKSSS, Prof. Vikas Satwalekar, Former Executive Director, NID and Sri I. B. Peerzada, IAS, Former Education Commissioner, Gujarat. Prominent personalities from the Design and Fashion fraternity will grace the event.
Prem Kumar Gera, Director General, NIFT, will host the Convocation ceremony with the whole NIFT fraternity. He proudly says that imparting knowledge is just one of the many facets of NIFT education. He further says "We aspire to create a balanced personality with enough room for diligence, innovation social responsibility and ability to improvise." It is worth mentioning here that NIFT Mumbai has a record of hundred percent placements for three consecutive years. Alok Industries, Madura Group of Industries, Shoppers’ Stop, O M, Future Group, Reliance and Orient Craft are some of the major recruiting companies.
The grand finale of the day is the Graduation Show "Fashionova" by the graduates of the Fashion Design department and "Knitmoda" by the Knitwear Design graduates. The event is eagerly looked forward to by the industry and academia alike and in the audience will be eminent personalities of fashion and textile industry.
