Women bring equality and stability through their leadership style: GV Reddy

"It is said money and power are two most important things and both of those in India are controlled by women. Be it the banking sector or running the affairs of political parties in the country women are at the helm of affairs. We are fortunate that Indian women are not only efficient leaders but also are the best ambassadors of Indian culture and history so I believe we are in good hands," said GV Sanjay Reddy, Vice Chairman of GVK Power and Infrastructure Ltd amidst applause at the interactive session - My journey beyond business – organised by the FICCI Ladies Organisation.

According to Ms Neeta Boochra, FLO President, the interactive sessions with Reddy was organised with a view to inspire women entrepreneur/business leaders develop a vision to go beyond the calls of business and achieve greater goals alongside. "At FLO we are committed to skill and capacity building of women entrepreneur and business leaders. Mr Reddy is inspirational both as a business leader and social entrepreneur. We hosted him to benefit from his experiences, the interaction was quite fruitful,"averred Ms Boochra.

During his hour long interaction with the FLO members Mr Reddy emphasised that the job of leadership is not just to make money, but to make meaning. "At GVK we do not believe in just numbers and figures but to have an overall sustainable development of the society. GVK Emergency management and Research Institute (EMRI) is one such social initiative and is closest to my heart. Through this not-for-profit arm of GVK we are providing free emergency response services to the poor of 16 states of the country.

Answering to queries on his opinion on role women business leader/ entrepreneur in building India he said that it is heartening to see so many businesses like banking sector, FMCGs etc being ably headed by women. Women bring equality and stability through their leadership style and are immensely contributing to the economic development of India, said Mr Reddy.
