300: Rise of an Empire is the second sequel of the much famed 2007 blockbuster film 300. Scheduled to be released on 7th March this year the movie seems formidable as a blockbuster. Though the film is directed by Noam Murro, the director and co-writer of 300, Zack Snyder is writing and producing the film this time. Besides having the same cast in almost all leading roles there has been some changes as well. Lena Headey, Rodrigo Santoro, David Wenham and Andrew Tiernan are acting in the same roles as in the first film besides new casts such as Sullivan Stapleton, Eva Green, Hans Matheson, Callan Mulvey and Jack O'Connell. This epic historical fantasy action film is expected to receive applause and reception from all around in the fashion of its first sequel but how far it can retain the original spell and charm that remains to be seen.
Storyline
The movie based upon a romanticized view of ancient Greek history during the Persian invasion of Greece (around 480 BC) focuses on the several battles and ensuing power game. From the naval warfare of Battle of Artemisium to the Battle of Thermopylae, from the Battle of Salamis to the Battle of Marathon, the film counts on its earlier success with the highly graphic description of ancient warfare. In spite of the political power game among the various city states the principal focus lies on the war between the alliance of Greek city states and the invading Persian Empire. Greek general Themistokles leads his alliance forces against the invading Persian forces led by vengeful Persian navy commander Xerxes and Artemisia - it is the principal storyline 300: Rise of an Empire begins with.
