Terming its needs as developing the spirits of camaraderie, adventure and discipline, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh urged the youth of the country to join the National Cadet Corps (NCC). He was addressing after taking salute at the annual Prime Minster's NCC Rally in a function.
Addressing the NCC rally, Prime Minister said, "Aware and engaged youth are a force that can transform India and enable it to get rid of poverty, disease, underdevelopment and ignorance."
"The youth today are not only aware and ready to articulate their views, but are also willing to participate in shaping our society. There is tremendous yearning amongst our youth to transform our society for the better," he said.
"The energy, the vitality and enthusiasm of our youth augurs well for our nation," he added.
He stated that NCC embodies values for national unity and if the destiny of the national was in the hands of the youth such as those in corps, the energy, vitality and enthusiasm of our youth augur well for the youth.
