Sreesanth to shake a leg on 'Jhalak...'

Maharashtra,Cinema/Showbiz, Thu, 08 May 2014 IANS

Mumbai, May 8 (IANS) After months of negotiation and dilly-dallying, former India cricketer S. Sreesanth has agreed to participate in the seventh edition of dance reality show "Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa".

The cricketer, banned from playing for his alleged involvement in spot-fixing, was initially hesitant to come on the show.

"Sreesanth was approached two months ago after he was released from jail. 'Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa' wanted to provide him with a platform to tell his story about the spot-fixing allegations. Sreesanth refused," said a source.

"We think at that time he thought he'd clear his name and get back to cricket. But after he was banned, Sreesanth softened towards the idea of doing the show," the source added.

The former cricketer was finalised this week, though his name was being tossed around for quite some time.

"Sreesanth is preparing for a career in music and acting. He sees 'Jhalak...' as a stepping stone to movies. And yes, he will be talking about the spot-fixing charges," said the source.

Another contestant who has been finalised is actor Purab Kohli.

Singer-composer Sukhwinder Singh, singer-actress Sophie Choudry, and popular TV faces Karan Tacker and Mouni Roy are likely to be seen grooving on the "Jhalak... dance floor.
