First time voters in Holy City Amritsar offered 30% rebate by Restaurants and hotels

Amritsar, Mar. 9 (ANI): In a bid to encourage the young voters to judiciously use their right to cast their vote in the forthcoming Parliamentary Elections the district administration with the support of local association of hotel industry has offered 30 percent discount to the first time voters at various restaurants of holy city Amritsar.

According an estimate 24, 103 boys and 13,183 girls were among the 37,286 new voters aged between 18 and 19 years.

Ravi Bhagat, deputy commissioner Amritsar, while talking to ANI disclosed that to avail this offer the young voters has to show the imprint of the indelible ink on their fingers and their voter card at the hotel or restaurants.

To propagate this offer the hotels and restaurants would display banners and slogans on their bills. Surinder Singh president of hotel and restaurant associations informed that they have decided to extend this lucrative offer even to the relatives of such voters on stay in the hotels situated in the holy city from May 1 to 31.

The district administrations has also decided to award a letter of appreciation to the new voters who would exercise their right to vote in the coming Lok Sabha Elections. The new voters are excited, and are keen to avail of the offer by the district administration and the hotels and restaurants. .

Ramandeep Kaur who would be cast her right to vote first time welcome this gesture. She said that it's like administration welcoming them to step in to becoming responsible citizens of India.

Sarbjit Singh, another first time voter, appreciated the effort initiated by the authorities. He feels that this would inspire the young voters to come out and avail the honour of receiving appreciation letters from the administration. By Ravinder Singh Robin (ANI)
