Broad blames England's 'last overs' bowling for their first ODI loss to Windies

Johannesburg , Sun, 02 Mar 2014 ANI

Johannesburg, Mar. 02 (ANI): England limited-overs captain Stuart Broad has reportedly blamed his team's 'late' bowling for England's loss to West Indies by 15 runs in the opening game of the three-match ODIs.

Broad said that his team's bowling was 'fantastic' up to 40 overs but the last 10 overs with the ball 'hurt' them.

According to Sport24, West Indies had scored only 45 for four up to the 16th over on Friday but they slowly worked their way back with Dwayne Bravo (87 not out), Lendl Simmons (65) and Darren Sammy (61) turning the style in the latter stages to take the Indies total to 269 for six in 50 overs.

Broad however said that they would have won if they had given the 'batsmen' 230 to chase as England finished on 254 for six in reply.

West Indies' Bravo was named man of the match for his 87 not out alongside his batting exploits with Simmons and Sammy. (ANI)
