Raipur, Feb. 27 (ANI): Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad on Thursday inaugurated All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) with state-of-the-art facilities in Raipur.
The government has set up six AIIMS-like institutes in backward states as part of government's efforts to ramp up medical infrastructure. All of them are likely to be fully functional by year end.
"All the facilities that are available at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Delhi, will be available at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences here. It will be a full-fledged institute. In fact it will be more modern than that because equipments of latest techniques will be fitted in it," said Azad.
Meanwhile, chief minister of central Chhattisgarh province, Raman Singh, thanked everybody, who contributed to make this dream come true.
"I want to thank everybody, who helped achieve this dream, without missing anybody's name. The foundation stone was laid by Sushma Swaraj, who was the health minister during the former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee led government," said Singh.
More AIIMS-like institutes will be set up in several cities like Patna, Bhubaneswar, Jodhpur, Rishikesh and Bhopal. (ANI)
