Lehmann not worried despite overworked pace trio in Tests against Proteas

Sydney, Sun, 23 Feb 2014 ANI

Sydney, Feb. 23 (ANI): Australian coach Darren Lehmann has remained unconcerned over the rising workload of the team's three-pronged pace attack in the Tests against Australia.

Lehmann feels that all-rounder Shane Watson is likely to offer some relief in the final Test of the series and he reportedly put the pacer-trio on ice for the final 18 overs of the second Test on Friday.

According to News.com.au, Lehmann said that he was not worried about pacers Mitchell Johnson, Ryan Harris and Peter Siddle spending over ten hours in the field following South Africa's marathon first innings as it was a Test match, although he is waiting for the end of the Test before gauging the best way to handle his overworked pace trio.

Lehmann said that they always favour fielding five bowlers and feels that Watson would be 'fit and firing and ready to go' ahead of the all-rounder's expected return from a calf injury in the final Test against South Africa.

Lehmann also feels hopeful that they would not have to bowl 150 overs in Cape Town and is also quite sure that the wicket would not have as little bounce as the current wicket. (ANI)
