Warner says 'lazy' Proteas playing 'backyard cricket' in first Test

Sydney, Feb 15 (ANI): Explosive Australian opener David Warner has branded the South African players as 'lazy' after they dropped his catch three times, leading him to make 115 during the third day of the first Test at Centurion Park.

The brutal left-hander exploited another lazy day for the top-ranked Test team in the world to score his sixth Test century on Friday, when Australia was 3-288 at stumps, an overall lead of 479.

According to News.com.au, Warner said that South African players looked 'pretty lazy' and tired while fielding, which helped them to score extra runs from the 'misfields', adding that the last time he had seen fielding that bad was 'backyard cricket'.

Warner does not believe that South Africa will be able hold out for the last two days of the Test like they did in Adelaide last season, batting for a day and a half to force a draw before claiming the series with an emphatic victory in Perth.

Warner further said that it would be very hard on the wickets on the final two days of the Test at Centurion Park, although he believes that the variation in bounce is going to be the key for them to keep trying to hit the stumps every ball and shut down the scoreboard.

Meanwhile, Warner backed his teammate and pace sensation Mitchell Johnson to continue his 'golden summer', saying that with his pace and accuracy at the moment, Johnson at the top of his game and he is going to be hard to stop. (ANI)
