London, Feb 14 (ANI): In an attempt to make her friends realise that cancer does not discriminate between gender, race, or age, an Australian woman took to her Facebook account and posted very graphic pictures of herself that showed her breast cancer surgery scars.
But, Beth Whaanga's efforts were wasted on more than 100 people who found the snaps offensive and removed her from their friend list, the Independent reported.
While some supported the 32-year-old woman, from Brisbane, who underwent a double mastectomy, breast reconstruction and a hysterectomy, some asked her to respect people's values and beliefs and not to force her views on others
However, the mum-of-four asserted that these images are confronting and contain topless material, but they are not in any way meant to be sexual.
Her aim was to raise awareness for breast cancer, she said.
Whaanga added that the old and the young, age does not matter, self-examination is vital as it can happen to anyone. (ANI)
