New Delhi, Feb 13 (IANS) Actress Kirron Kher Thursday said that crimes against women can be controlled by educating men and women as it will help change their thought process.
She was speaking on the rising crimes against women at a session called Vote Lo Suraksha Do at a political conclave Panchayat Aaj Tak here.
The actress, who joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in 2009, believes that "a perverted mind" can be dealt with through education.
"Someone with a perverted mind won't think the right thing. So, it is important to change the mindset of people and it is possible through education."
"India is a country of large divides. In a lot of places celebration of Valentine's Day is not okay while in others it is alright. It's connected to the mindset. Change mindset of Indian men and women through education," Kirron said.
The actress of acclaimed films like "Bariwali" and "Khamosh Pani" also feels it is important to implement laws to empower women.
"You need power to implement laws. Strong governance is very important. We (BJP) have done so much for women and I am proud of it," said the 58-year-old.
