Anderson says the harder England tried, the better Australia got

London, Tue, 28 Jan 2014 ANI

London, Jan 28 (ANI): James Anderson, the most experienced bowler in the England squad, has said the harder his team tried to put things right, the worse things got during the 5-0 Ashes whitewash.

Anderson, the second-highest Test wicket-taker in his country's history, deconstructed England's humiliating defeat during the Ashes.

He said the team was quite disturbed with Jonathan Trott going home and Graeme Swann retiring, and added that England played a different team in each Test.

Anderson told BBC Radio 5 live's Not Just Cricket the harder England tried, the better Australia got.

He said Trot was a huge loss to England, because he's been such a big part of the team's success over the last few years.

Anderson also pointed that Australian batsmen capitalised on some poor bowling to score 10 centuries to England's one during the series.

Reacting over criticism of Alastair Cook's form and captaincy, he said the players weren't performing so it is not the fault of the skipper that England lost 5-0. (ANI)
