Goa CIC credits activists, media for RTI

Panaji, Jan 24 (IANS) The real credit for the Right To Information (RTI) act goes to activists, campaigners, media and civil society, Goa's Chief Information Commissioner Leena Mehendale said here Friday.

At a function marked to felicitate winners of a newly instituted RTI award in the state, Mehendale said: "A lot of people are trying to take credit for the act. But the real credit goes to activists, campaigners, media and civil society."

A retired 1974 batch Indian Administrative Service officer, Leena Mehendale was appointed Goa's chief state information commissioner last year.
