'Kejriwal should become a ruler, not an agitator': Narayanasamy

Bangalore , Wed, 22 Jan 2014 ANI

Bangalore, Jan.22 (ANI): Minister of State in the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) and Congress leader V. Narayanasamy on Wednesday criticized Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for staging a protest demanding suspension of erring police officials, stating that Kejriwal should become a ruler and not an agitator.

"It is a very unfortunate situation. A chief minister of a state is sitting on a 'dharna' causing inconvenience to the commuters and the public. Chief Minister is there to govern the state not to agitate. He is there to control the agitation; he himself has become an agitator," he told media here today.

"This could have been avoided. People have given him a mandate to rule the state. He should become a ruler and not an agitator," he added.

Earlier on Tuesday, Kejriwal called off his protest outside the Rail Bhawan, after the Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung appealed to end their protest.

Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has been protesting against the suspension of Delhi cops, who are accused by his administration of dereliction of duty.

Terming this as people's victory, Kejriwal said he will continue to work for women's protection in the capital.

Addressing his supporters, Kejriwal said, "Considering the Republic Day preparations and issue of national security, the Lieutenant Governor (LG) appealed to us to end our dharna."

"They have partially accepted our demands. They have decided to send police officials of Paharganj and Malviya Nagar on leave. The police have also arrested the culprits involved in the case of women in Sagarpur, who was burned," he added.

He also apologized to the people for the inconvenience caused to them due to shutting of the Metro stations, and also condemned action taken by police, due to which people were injured during the protest. (ANI)
