New Delhi/Lahore, Jan.16 (ANI): Sunanda Pushkar Tharoor, the wife of Minister of State for Human Resource Development (HRD), Shashi Tharoor, was involved in a war of words on the microblogging site Twitter with Pakistani journalist Mehr Tarar on Wednesday and Thursday.
According to the Times Now television channel, Sunanda Tharoor accused Tarar of stalking her husband Shashi since April last year, and called the latter an ISI agent.
Tarar, however, denied the charges of being 'involved' with Shashi Tharoor, and said that she will sue Sunanda Pushkar Tharoor for defamation.
"I am going to sue her for calling me an ISI agent. Is it so easy to become an ISI agent?" Tarar asked.
She further was quoted, as saying: "How can I stalk him when I live in another country? As far as BBM or Twitter is concerned, you can always delete or block someone."
In an interview with Times Now, Tarar said, "Why am I defending myself? If someone (Sunanda) has gone insane, then why are you asking me questions?"
"I am a housewife, I have a kid. I don't even know where this has come from. This is completely untrue. She is lying," Tarar was quoted, as saying.
Asked about how she knew Tharoor, Tarar said, "I interviewed him. I wrote an article. It's called 'Meeting Shashi Tharoor'. It was a pleasure to meet him. He talked about his life." "His views as a politician fascinated me. I have said that a number of times on my Twitter," she added.
Shashi Tharoor found himself at the centre of an unseemly controversy Wednesday evening after intimate messages, supposedly sent to him by a Pakistani woman journalist (Tarar), were posted on his widely followed, verified Twitter account.
Tharoor's wife Sunanda Pushkar claimed on Twitter that she was posting from her husband's account, intimate private messages sent to him by Lahore-based journalist Mehr Tarar, to show the world "how she is stalking my husband".
Pushkar also said neither her Twitter account nor that of her husband had been hacked as was earlier being reported.
Both later said in a statement that they were a happily married couple and intended to stay that way. (ANI)
