The Washington Post 'most tweeted newspaper' in 2013

Washington, Jan. 11 (ANI): The Washington Post reportedly generated most content-driven tweets of any newspaper in the last year, according to a new study.

Searchmetrics analyzed average weekly tweets of newspaper content in 2013, it was found that The Washington Post generated 275,193 tweets per week, edging out the New York Times at 261,422 tweets per week.

According to Mashable, it was found that USA Today's story "Texas gunman brain dead; may be tied to Colo. slayings" was the individual newspaper story with the most tweets of the year, a whopping 408,816.

Washington Post also came close second for the next four most-tweeted articles in the list, with its story on gunman Adam Lanza receiving 361,259 tweets.

The New York Post, with 13,532 mentions on the microblogging site came third last in the list of ten newspapers, while Chicago-Sun Times featured last with 4,982 tweets. (ANI)
