New Delhi, Jan 10 (IANS) India's industrial output dropped by 2.1 percent in November due to a sharp contraction in manufacturing production, government data showed Friday.
Manufacturing production slumped by 3.5 percent during the month under review, while mining grew at a sluggish 1 percent and electricity output increased by 6.3 percent.
Cumulative growth in the factory output measured in terms of the Index of Industrial Production (IIP) for April-November period of the current financial year stands at minus 0.2 percent, according to data released by the Central Statistics Office (CSO).
In the first eight months of the current fiscal manufacturing sector has contracted by 0.6 percent, while mining output has declined by 2.2 percent.
Electricity production has increased by 5.4 percent in the first eight months of the current fiscal year-on-year.
