New Delhi, Jan.10 (ANI): The recent launch of the GSLV-D5 and PSLV has provided India with autonomy to carry out future exciting space missions, said Minister of State in the Prime Minister's Office V. Narayanasamy.
Addressing media here on Friday, Narayansamy said that the Department of Space and the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) will also launch a multi-wavelength Astronomy observatory satellite ASTROSAT-1 for observation of celestial objects covering optical, UV and X-ray bands.
He described space technology as a powerful catalyst for social development in the areas of natural resources management, food security, rural development, education and literacy, health-care and environment.
He said the GSLV-D5 flight has achieved self-reliance for India's cryogenic launch vehicle technology.
He said the launching of the Mars Orbiter spacecraft has made India one of four nations in the world to send a space mission to Mars.
Narayanasamy said PSLV with 24 successful flights, has provided the country crucial autonomy in access to space. (ANI)
