Jorhat (Assam), Jan.9 (ANI): An international trade fair in Jorhat, Assam, is attracting both budding businessmen and craftsmen, and giving them an opportunity to show case their achievements and abilities before a global audience.
A visitor from Guwahati said the trade fair offered range of goods under one roof that was beneficial for the consumers.
"I have been at trade fairs earlier many a times. Here there are a lot of varieties and there are also a lot of counters with good range of products," he said.
A woman budding entrepreneur from Bangladesh flaunted her hand-woven merchandise.
"My stall is that of handicrafts from Bangladesh with varieties like nokshi, katha, bedsheets, sarees from Bangladesh. Most of them are hand woven and quality wise every product is much better," said Aasma.
However, the main attraction at the trade fair was an E-Rickshaw (Tuk-tuk) that operated fully on battery.
Unlike conventional rickshaws that ply on India roads, this rickshaw can be charged from a power socket and can run up to 100 kilometres.
Organisers hoped that the initiative would provide a platform to the various businesses to understand the market needs and have direct interactions with buyers besides selling their products.
Products displayed in the fair included textiles, food products, home furnishing, fashion accessories and traditional Assamese jewellery. (ANI)
