Virbhadra Singh says BJP finds him the biggest obstacle in HP political scenario

Shimla , Sat, 04 Jan 2014 ANI

Shimla, Jan. 4 (ANI): Reacting on the recent remarks made by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Anurag Thakur and P.K Dhumal, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh on Saturday said that BJP was saying this only because they found him to be their biggest obstacle to gaining power in the state.

"I am just being haunted by Mr. Dhumal and his sons and BJP at large as think of me to be the biggest obstacle on their way for their political desires in Himachal Pradesh," said Singh.

"My conscience is clear and I have done nothing wrong. This is all a conspiracy," he said.

Anurag Singh Thakur on Saturday had said that Singh should not hold his office anymore, as he was corrupt." Why is he still holding to his office even after so many allegations against him? He is no less than Lalu Yadav in matters of corruption," said Thakur.

"There are news reports that money was transferred in bicycles, scooters and oil tankers. Why were all this assets hidden at EC? Will Rahul Gandhi still support such corrupt minister?" he said.

Former CM of Himachal Pradesh P.K Dhumal said that Singh was getting money from a lot of sources." There are several allegations of corruption against CM Virbhadra Singh and there are reports that he was getting money from all sources," he said.

The Himachal Pradesh chief minister has been accused by the BJP of indulging in a quid pro quo dealing with a private company. Arun Jaitley had accused Singh of being involved in three cases of corruption, one of which involved the owner of a private company.

He alleged that Virbhadra and his wife Pratibha Singh had received a sum of one crore fifty thousand and two crores respectively from Vanshri Vakamula Chandrashekar, the owner of Venture Energy and Technology Private Limited.

He claimed that the same money was invested in a new company opened by Mr. Chandrashekar called Taarini Enterprise Private Limited, through which, Singh's wife, his son and daughter became its shareholders.

On Thursday, Virbhadra Singh had said," Prove me wrong, and, I will quit politics, forget my post."

Over past one week, both the BJP and the Congress have launched protests against each other over the issue.

On December 31, the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha had protested in front of Rahul Gandhi's Tughlak Lane residence, and raised anti- Congress slogans. Some even tried to cross the steel and iron barricades.

On January 1, activists from the Youth Congress and the National Students Union of India (NSUI) sought to take a protest march towards the official residence of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Rajnath Singh but were stopped in the middle by the police (ANI)
