New Delhi, Jan.4 (ANI): The youth wing of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) took out a 'procession of scams' on Saturday here, to highlight corruptive taint associated with the Congress-led UPA Government.

Many Bhartiya Yuva Morcha supporters were dressed as Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh and other leaders. They shouted slogans against Gandhi and also demanded the resignation of Virbhadra Singh.

"In 2014, elections are scheduled for the lower house of the Parliament and so this is an awareness campaign to tell the people of this country about the various scams like 2G,Commonwealth scam,Coal scam- which this UPA government has given to this country in the last 10 years,"said a supporter who participated in the rally.

On December 30, the BJP had said that Virbhadra Singh was bribed to favour a privately-owned company during the allocation of tenders in a state-run Hydel power project.

Probity has never been the strongest suit of the world's largest democracy. A staggering 30 percent of lawmakers across federal and state legislatures face criminal charges, many for serious crimes such as rape, murder and kidnapping.

India is ranked 94th in a list of 177 countries on Transparency International's 2013 global corruption index, rated as worse than China, South Africa and Brazil in terms of graft.

Congress, led by the Nehru-Gandhi dynasty, has been facing widespread voter anger over corruption, slowing growth and stubborn inflation.

Recently, Congress party lost four out of the five assembly elections in the central states of Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh, northwestern Rajasthan and capital Delhi to the Bharatiya Janata Party. (ANI)
