Ezra Klein likely to quit Washington Post over lack of support for new website

New York, Fri, 03 Jan 2014 ANI

New York, Jan. 3 (ANI): Ezra Klein, the man behind The Washington Post's Wonkblog, is reportedly said to be making plans to leave the newspaper owing to lack of support for his proposal of developing a new website within the company.

Political blogger, analyst, and television commentator, Klein is said to be seeking investors for his proposed website dedicated to explanatory journalism.

According to the New York Times, sources revealed that Klein had approached the Post's publisher, Katharine Weymouth in recent weeks and after consultation with editor Marty Baron, he put forth the plan for the new website.

Sources said that the new website would have been affiliated with The Post, but would have been a separate enterprise.

However, Weymouth and the paper's owner, Jeff Bezos, declined to support the project, following which Klein has had discussions with several potential investors and venture capitalists in an effort to start the website himself.

The report added the sources saying that Klein could stay if his plans for the new website were rekindled. (ANI)
