The Juvenile Justice Board (JJB) Saturday pronounced to three-years special home to the convict who was adolescent at the time of committing the crime in the connection of December 16 Delhi gang rape case.
The JJB has found guilty to erstwhile 17 and half years old juvenile, who along with five other adult accused gang raped a 23-years old paramedical student in a moving bus on December 16, 2012 who succumbed to injury on December 29, 2012 at Singapore's Elizabeth Hospital.
The JJB board, presided over by Principal Magistrate Geetanjali Goel found all the level charged true. There were 15 charges on the juvenile including the rape, molestation, assault, robbery etc.
This punishment will include the timings which he has spent in detention during the board proceedings.
The incident occurred in Munirka in south Delhi when a 23-year-old female physiotherapy intern was brutally gang raped in a bus that she and her male companion had boarded.
Police has in its charge sheet said the juvenile was the most brutal of all the accused. He not over raped the girl but also injured the internal parts of the girl by inserting the iron rod into her private part.
He was also found convict in beating gang rape victim male friend and robbing to a carpenter before committing this crime.
However, the mother of the victim has expressed her dissatisfaction over the JJB’s verdict.
A native of Uttar Pradesh, the minor had moved to Delhi at the age of 11 and was arrested after the incident from Anand Vihar in east Delhi.
Six people, including the juvenile, were arrested in the case. While accused Ram Singh, Mukesh, Pawan Gupta, Vinay Sharma and Akshay Thakur were tried by a fast track court in Saket in south Delhi, the juvenile's case was heard by the board.
The case against Ram Singh was dropped after he was found dead, hanging in his cell in Tihar Jail here.
