Pulling the legs of Central Government and Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for respectively missing the files related to coalgate scams and slow speed of investigation in this case, the Supreme Court of India on Thursday has directed the first to make available all documents to the second for swift probing.
The apex court bench headed by Justice R.M. Lodha said the two-week period will commence from the date it receives a comprehensive and consolidated list of the files, documents and information that are sought by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), besides what it already has.
The court gave CBI five days' time to make available the list to the government.
The court said that a week hereafter the government will inform the CBI about the files, documents and the information that is not available or has gone missing and the probe agency will investigate the matter.
The apex court was hearing the case of multi-million dollar coalgate scam in which it is alleged over the government of making irregularities in the allocation of coal-blocks from 1993 to 2009.
