Microsoft to integrate Skype app in its new Windows 8.1 OS

Tech giant Microsoft in a blog post confirmed that the new Windows 8.1, which is to be released on October 18 this year will be integrated with the VoIP service Skype, the popular video and messaging cloud based voice service.

With the introduction of Skype app in the new version of Windows 8 OS, it will certainly allure the consumers to share their everyday moments with their loved ones easily. At present over 300 million users across the globe uses Skype to communicate.

According to the software giant, Windows 8.1 will be available for the users as a free update on Windows 8 via Windows Store. In addition to that, the new Windows 8.1 operating system also boasts of including 20 new and improved Microsoft apps which includes Skype, Bing, Internet Explorer (IE), Skydrive, 3D printing, Outlook and Xbox Music, Video, and Games. Moreover, the company will also release Windows Server 2012 R2, Windows System Center 2012 R2 and the latest update to Windows Intune.

Interestingly, Microsoft's SkyDrive will also be preinstalled into the operating system which would allow the users sort their files even in offline mode.
