Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit has stated that Delhi was the first state in the country to grant OBC status to Jats community in the Capital city, hence, enabling them to avail benefits of OBC reservation in government services. Dikshit today expressed her views in an All India Jats Convention at Talkatora Stadium, New Delhi.
The Chief Minister stated that the Jats rendered their substantial contribution in freedom struggle. In fact, the community also actively took part in 1857 freedom struggle. Their contribution in defending the country against the attackers and invaders have been recognized by one and all.
She further said that it is learnt that every Jat family has been sending one of its family members in Indian Army. The community is backbone of our economy as it has been deeply involved in agriculture. The community is also politically conscious and has been producing mass leaders. The Jats are brave and courageous. Their contribution at social level has benefitted people at large.
