Delhi court on Thursday convicted Indian Mujahideen (IM) operative Shahzad Ahmad in the 2008 Batla House shootout.
Additional Sessions Judge Rajender Kumar Shastri convicted Ahmad for killing Delhi Police special cell inspector M.C. Sharma and assaulting other police officers.
The police had alleged that Shahzad is an Indian Mujahideen operative, and one of four men responsible for serial blasts in Delhi in 2008.
Serial blasts hit the national capital on September 13, 2008, which killed 30 and injured over 100.
Ahmad was one of the occupants of a flat that was raided by police in south Delhi's Batla House neighborhood in Jamia Nagar area Sep 19, 2008, six days after serial blasts in the city, the prosecution said.
Acting on a tip-off regarding some terrorists involved in the blasts, the police team led by Inspector Sharma went to Batla House on September 19. Sharma was killed during the incident.
The prosecution, in its final arguments, contended that it had "sufficient circumstantial evidence" and phone records to prove that Ahmad was present in the flat in Batla House.
Ahmad, along with another accused Junaid, had jumped off the balcony and fled after firing at police, the prosecution said.
