B.S.Bassi is the new chief of Delhi Police

B.S. Bassi, special commissioner of police (administration), is to be the new Delhi Police chief.

According to Delhi Police, Bassi, an IPS officer of the 1977 batch, is to take over from Aug 1, 2013, according to an order issued Tuesday.

Bassi will succeed incumbent Neeraj Kumar who retires July 31.

Name ; Bhim Sain Bassi

Joined in service: 1977 (Batch) He has served various posts from his joining including ASP Pondichery 1980, SP Arunachal 1981.

He came in Delhi in 1984 and worked as Addl. DCP/New Delhi.

Has also served as DCP/Security, DCP/North-East, DCP/North (three and half years) and then moves on deputation GOI 1998, IGP/Chandigarh 2000 to December, 2002,Joint CP/Southern Range,Spl. CP/Vigilance, & ,Intelligence, Delhi to Goa DGP 2009 to 2011 Spl. CP/Traffic Spl. CP/Admn. W.e.f. 16.01.2012
