6th Fashion Jewellery Show Concludes with Business of Rs 96 Crore : EPCH

The 6th edition of Indian Fashion Jewellery and Accessories Show (IFJAS 2013), organized by the Export Promotion Council for Handicrafts (EPCH), generated a business worth over Rs 96 crore during its three-day exposition which came to a close at the India Expo Centre and Mart here today.

Around 468 overseas buyers, representing world famous major buying houses and retail chains, visited the fair to source their requirements from a diverse range of products under one-roof showcased by over 205 Indian exporters and manufacturers from various parts of India.

This mega event is one of its kind of international show dedicated entirely to the jewellery and accessories industry.

The three-day B2B event focusing only export market witnessed fashion previews on jewellery & accessories, seminars on European Fashion Jewellery and Accessories Market Opportunity for India Exporters and Hedging Foreign Exchange Tool.

The theme of fair remained “Fair Trade” focussing on social and environmental compliance by the industry.

The IFJAS 2013 had around 205 exhibitors and their product range included Hi fashion jewellery, semi precious jewllery, stoles, scarves, shawls, hand bags, clutch purses, belts, wallets, neck ties, beads, stones, crystals, head, hair accessories, fancy fashion footwear, tattoes and bindies keeping western tastes and preferences in focus.

The display range included fashion jewellery, semi precious fashion jewellery, fashion accessories, hand bags, purses, fancy shoes and embroidered fashion accessories etc. The intricacies and exquisiteness of the Indian traditional as well as contemporary fashion jewellery have created a niche in the world markets and have tremendous potential for exports.

Overseas buyers evinced keen interest in India’s design elements anchored on trends interpreting various inspirations and tendencies and use of an assortment of material. Buyers from across the globe with major traffic from USA, UK, Canada, Japan, Poland, South America, Turkey, Botswana, Hungary and Belgium visited the show to source their requirements.

Ajai Shankar Memorial Awards –Gold, Silver and Bronze --were also given to the six deserving exhibitors in two different categories for best stall design, best product display and overall display from the design and product point of view.

The exports of Fashion Jewellery & Accessories is a part of Indian Handicrafts and has shown a significant growth in the recent years. The exports of fashion jewellery and accessories has touched Rs 2007.15 crore in the year 2012-13 against Rs 1237.69 crore in the year 2011-12.

The EPCH is a nodal agency under for promotion of handicrafts products from India and projects India’s image abroad as a reliable supplier of high quality handicrafts.
