Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit opened a transit camp for the pilgrims going to attend the 801st Annual Urs of Hazrat Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti at Ajmer. The camp at Burari grounds organized by the Department of Revenue would continue upto 25th May, 2013.
Large number of pilgrims from different states reach Ajmer via Delhi. The city government has been making arrangement for their comfortable stay in especially prepared transit camp for the last 14 years continuously. The city government feels proud in serving as a host to such pilgrims.
Dikshit stated that pilgrims from all parts of the country and from other countries visit Ajmer Sharifto attend holy Urs. They visit Ajmer Sharif in search of peace and spiritual confidence. Delhi is the only state to organize such a large camp to provide comfort to the pilgrims. No other camp outside Ajmer could match, in terms of amenities and size, to the camp organized by the city government.
The pilgrims belonging to all religions and faiths visit Ajmer Sharif which has become a centre of secularism and humanistic approach. The city government has also been providing facilities to the pilgrims belonging to all religions as it believes in equality and makes no difference on the basis of religion.
She appreciated the contribution of Kanwar Samitiand Tirth Yatra Vikas Samiti in organizing the camp. She exhorted the pilgrims to pray for the peace, progress and prosperity of all Indians. The amenities available includes nine camps for stay, drinking water, electricity, public conveniences, medicines, ambulances, six-bedded hospital, telephone facility, local shopping facility, railway ticking booking counter, kerosene depot, DTC buses parking and Rajasthan Roadways Service.
