The union home ministry on Thursday said that Board of Cricket Control in India (BCCI) has not sent any request for a probe into the Indian Premier League (IPL) spot fixing scandal by the Central Bureau of Investigation.
"We have not received any request from BCCI. Let us receive a request. The question is hypothetical," Home Secretary R.K. Singh told reporters in New Delhi after being asked whether the home ministry has any objection to ordering a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe.
"Our operations have started, they are going on", Singh said while speaking about the investigations.
Rajasthan Royals players S. Sreesanth, Ankit Chavan and Ajit Chandila in the IPL, were arrested in Mumbai by Delhi Police for their illegal involvement in spot fixing in matches for payments up to Rs.60 lakh, and giving away a pre-fixed number of runs in an over.
Delhi Police have so far arrested 26 people regarding this connection with the IPL scandal.
