Affirming that the Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh has no moral right to continue as PM, senior BJP leader M. Venkaiah Naidu on Sunday said their party will begin a "Jail Bharo Andolan" starting from May 27 to June 3 UPA Government.
"The BJP has decided to take up a nationwide campaign about the UPA Government failure and also explain to the people about the non-functioning of parliament, non-functioning of the government, confrontation between the government and the opposition and also various scam and scandal of the UPA Government," Naidu told media at Bangalore today.
"We will protest, for the Prime Minister's resignation. Our demand is that the UPA Government should go," he said.
"The Prime Minster is not able to do anything, he keeps on safe guarding himself by misusing CBI. The sooner this Government leaves it will be better for the nation. We are a party which believes in transparency," he added.
Earlier on Saturday, a day after two union misters resigned over corruption charges, BJP President Rajnath Singh had asked Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh to resign from the post of P.M. on moral grounds.
"I would appeal to the Prime Minister with all humility that you introspect and decide what should be done so that there is a trust in the people with regard to the country"s political system. I believe that if the Prime Minister does the introspection with all sincerity, then there is no other option left rather than tendering the resignation paper," Singh told mediapersons at a press conference.
"I want to say to the Prime Minister and Soniaji (Congress President Sonia Gandhi) that is it not an attempt to cover up the corruption," he added, pointing to the 2G spectrum scam.
Earlier on Friday, the Congress Party dropped both Ashwani Kumar and Pawan Kumar Bansal from the Union Cabinet in view of the charges of corruption and impropriety on them, just after a meeting Congress chief Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh .
