People will have to face another plight as now traveling in trains become costlier from today. The earlier announced hike in reservation fee and superfast charges in the Rail Budget 2013-14 comes into effect from today.
Besides hike in passenger fares, freight rate for all commodities will also go up by about 5.7 per cent.
It is noted that reservation fee for AC classes has been raised by 15 to 25 rupees per ticket while reservation fee for second and sleeper class has remained unchanged.
Apart from theses, the superfast charges have been increased by five rupees for second class and 10 rupees for sleeper class while in AC classes, the hike is in between 15 and 25 rupees.
On the other hand, Tatkal fee has been increased by 10 per cent of the basic fare for second class and 30 per cent for all other AC classes.
Cancellation charges, have been increased by 10 to 50 rupees per confirmed ticket in second class to AC classes, charges for cancellation of waiting list and RAC tickets have been raised by 5 to 10 rupees.
The enhanced reservation fee which is levied on tickets booked for journeys originating from other than the ticket booking stations like return tickets, onward journey tickets etc. is also being withdrawn for tickets issued on or after April 1, 2013.
