Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit has stated that our government is committed to make Delhi a role model of the governance in introducing e-governance, computerization of civil supply offices, e-SLAs, e-Sub-registrar offices, e-court fee system, inter-connecting all zonal transport officers, computerization of education department, etc. testify our intentions to bring a positive change in work culture. Dikshit expressed these views in a function organized at Delhi Secretariat on the occasion of completion of the 14th year of the present government and 4th year of the present term of the government.
While appreciating the contribution rendered by the bureaucracy, Dikshit stated that in spite of having no control over land and police, Delhi has succeeded remarkably. The bureaucracy has always been there to take up the challenges efficiently. Delhi being an emerging city, our planning should take care of the future needs.
Dikshit also stated that my government understands that democracy is not a one-time event. It is a continuous process where people interact with the bureaucracy resulting in quick and effective response. She also stated that Delhi has witnessed a positive change during the last 13-14 years.
Talking about the incident of gangrape in Delhi, Dikshit stated that after the incident of 16th December last year, our government was quick in responding to the situation. We established helpline 181 for Women in Distress. Moreover, five fast-track courts were established at our instance.
Dikshit also stated that Delhi has now become the cultural capital of the country. The cultural events are being organized one after another across the city. The people have become aware of their rich cultural traditions and contribution of icons in the fields of music, art, drama, etc.
