Union Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde has said that there is a need do a lot for the safety of the women in Capital. However he also appreciated the work done by Delhi Police for cracking down the rape incidence of 16 December happened in Delhi. He was addressing on the occasion of the 66th Raising Day of Delhi Police at Kingsway Camp in north Delhi.
During his address, Shinde said that today people expect a lot from police despite being that the work of police is to maintaining the law and order situation in the area. But the fact is that pupil needs more support form police in every field of life.
He said that to fulfill the expectation, there is a need to be more transparent, accountable and sensitiveness during their performance for police today.
Stating the rape case of 16 December in Delhi, Shinde said that it was one of the shameless act and police have to do a lot to ensure the safety of ladies. However he appreciated the effort of Delhi Police for cracking down the case within 24 hours.
Delhi Police Commissioner Neeraj Kumar thanked Home Minister for taking part in the function. He said that the last year was a very tough and challenging year for Delhi Police and police faces the challenges with success.
He said that police have been doing a lot for the safety of women in capital and a lot has to be done.
