Ranchi, Dec 20 (IANS) Five legislators of the Jharkhand Vikas Morcha-Prajatantrik (JVM-P) Friday reached the Jharkhand assembly on a bullock cart to protest the slow pace of development in the state.
According to sources, Speaker Shashank Shekhar Bhoka took the matter seriously and the process to suspend six security personnel for allowing the bullock cart to enter the assembly premises has been initiated.
Friday was the last day of the winter session. JVM-P is the second main opposition party with 11 seats in the assembly.
"The pace of development of the present government is slower than the speed of a bullock cart. In five months, only Rs.1,900 crore of the state budget has been spent for development. Moreover, rape, murder and abduction cases have gone up," JVM-P legislator Pradeep Yadav told reporters.
