Jaipur, Dec. 19 (ANI): Lalit Modi's lawyer Mehmood Abdi on Thursday said that the news about the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCCI) disaffiliating Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA) as its member is false, claiming the reason for this conflict to be differences between Lalit Modi and N Srinivasan.
"BCCCI is not going to disaffiliate RCA as its member. People having vested interest are spreading these rumors. The conflict is not between BCCCI and the RCA but between Lalit Modi and N Srinivasan," said Abdi.
"Lalit Modi has always been instrumental in exposing all his misdeeds of N Srinivasan whether it was fiddling with the procedures, appointment of umpires, and lately, the match fixing also," he said.
"When Srinivasan realized that the group supporting Mr. Modi is going to come back to power in Rajasthan cricket, it started spreading these motivated rumors, just to deter our voters and to instill a kind of uncertainty in the minds of the people of Rajasthan. I wish to reassure them, that nothing is going to happen the RCA," he added.
Furthermore, he said the emails that suggested the possibility of the rumor being true were hollow threats.
"These emails and hollow threats are there to deter me from pursing my F.I.R making allegations, against Mr. Srinivasan and his son in law Mayapan for match fixing," he said.
"I would like to ask why weren't these emails sent when the elections were scheduled. Why were they sent only after Modi filed his nomination?" he asked.(ANI)
